The 4 C’s

Because of our business, Snappy Treats, we have had the opportunity to explore some of the qualities that build an effective advertisement. As a class we have identified the following categories: Catchy, Clear, Concise, and Convincing. We refer to these qualities as the “4 C’s”. Using these categories the students have built criteria for each and are now beginning to asses posters they have created using these skills. It has been wonderful watching students grow and become more objective about the work that they are doing.

This week try pointing out some print ads to your child and ask how they would critique it; you might be surprised with what they come up with!

Have a great weekend!

Wow! How fast has September gone by! It seems just yesterday we were filled with excitement about the first day of school. Seeing old friends and making new ones is surely one of the best parts of coming back! We have made a great start to the year: Snappy Treats is up and running (stay tuned for new products), we won the Super Spelling trophy last week, and learned about drawing fall trees with pastels! Some of these trees turned out really well; once they are all finished we will post some pictures.

I look forward to updating a few times a week, and having some student blogger updates from time to time. Enjoy this wondrous fall weather, who knows how long it will last!
